Immersive Experience Design for Christie’s Auction House

In early 2026, Christie's commissioned Bad Pedestrian Inc. to produce the immersive room experiences for three consecutive landmark auction events at Rockefeller Center: the William Koch Collection of American Paintings, the Canaletto and Old Masters sale, and the Aitken Collection. All three sales broke world auction records.

For each exhibition, paintings and sculptural works from the collection were studied, processed, and transformed using AI tools and projection mapping into fully immersive moving environments. Still canvases became atmospheric, living spaces. Landscapes shifted. Light moved across painted surfaces the way it does in nature. The rooms breathed.

The work was designed to sit at the precise intersection of reverence and innovation: nothing about the approach was gimmicky or decorative. The goal was to deepen the viewer's relationship with each collection before it went to auction, giving collectors, curators, and press an entirely new way to encounter historically significant works. The results were tasteful, precise, and immersive in the truest sense.

Each installation required a full production pipeline: collection research, AI-assisted image processing, motion content creation, video editing, sound design, projection mapping, and on-site installation consultation.
